An organic untreated four string of a darling stone of all ages, Emerald has been around since the time of the Babylonian markets of 4000BC. Emerald has a fairly sturdy place in history having been worn and written about by various noteworthy historical figures. As far back as first century BC Emerald came to prominence when King Ptolemy of Egypt gifted the Roman General Lucullus an Emerald engraved with his portrait. It was also a favourite of Cleopatra and the mines of Upper Egypt were one of the first sources of Emerald. Shah Jahan the Mughal Emperor who built the Taj Mahal expressed his fondness for Emerald by having sacred texts inscribed on it. In modern times Emerald made an appearance in the Russian Crown Jewels, ShahBanu Farah Pahlavi's and Queen Elizabeth II's collection. Almost every culture has endorsed the good fortune Emeralds bring to their wearers in every aspect of life.
